Kyan's first birthday was June 15, which fell on a Tuesday. Incidentally, that was the same day that our friends Kelly and Lee moved out here from the UK. So we didn't celebrate on his actual birthday and figured he'd forgive us for that eventually.
Days before his birthday, he started walking. And I mean walking with a vengeance. Quite literally, one day he took one step. Later that day he took two. The following day he took three a couple of times. Then six. And the next day, he was on a roll. Completely bipedal. Go, Kyan!

We held his birthday party at a nearby park and many of his friends were in attendance. And come cake-time, he couldn't have cared less and looked at it like it was horrid. (We didn't tell party goers that he is actually a junk food junkie -- he made mama look good that day, as people thought he had never had sugar in his life. Ha!
I didn't say he didn't play in it - just that he didn't eat it.
Here he was, absolutely spent, after the long day at the park. *Yes, he had sunscreen on.
