First Shoes

Kyan has been all about little matching socks and shoes since (almost) day 1. I love his matchy-matchy outfits and his little Vans, flip-flops, and Robeez. But now that he is becoming more and more upright, it's time to get him properly fitted for actual walking shoes.

Here are a couple of shots of the experience... and by the way, he is a size 4 WW (yes, that is DOUBLE-wide).

I just found this shot and thought I'd throw it in... It's actually from January-ish, 2010. This is how he woke up one morning. I wish I was that happy when I wake up!!

Hello again! (the longest post EVER)

Hello! I am trying to deny the fact that it has really been three months, almost to the day, since I last posted. So sorry! Since December, so much has happened on the home front. Let's see...

Most importantly, Matt is home! For good!! In December, you saw that he was in town, dorking it up with John. He ended up being home for 14 days that visit and spent Christmas with us, and then he was home in February for another 14 days. On Thursday February 26, he graduated from Diamond Ranch Academy. Matt is finishing up 8th grade at home (as I re-learn algebra and have discovered that I still hate 8th grade Social Studies) and he is playing on Wildomar's Little League team. He is doing very well and his little brother absolutely adores him (and likewise). I have a few more gray hairs but hey, that is what dye is for. ;-)

Here are some pictures from his graduation.

John got a little choked up during his speech. (I cried like a baby during mine, but luckily no one had the camera out.)

A couple of Matt's friends, George and Lee, wrote and played a song for his ceremony. George now lives with his mom in Ohio. Lee is still at DRA.

This is Brigham, the Asst Program Director and a really positive person during Matt's time there...

In other news, three months is a long time for a baby, so Kyan is now nine (9!!!) months old. At his doctor appointment two days ago, he weighed in at 21.4 pounds and is 29" long, 75th percentile for both. His little noggin is 19" around.

Developmentally, he is on a roll - the 'latest' videos I have of him (December/January) show him barely trying to stand up... oh, those were the days! Now he hauls his toosh around on all fours like Parnelli Jones, and he hops up on two feet in a flash. He still holds onto things to walk, but he can zip around a room in no time and he reaches EVERYTHING!

A couple of weeks ago, Aunt Chrissy taught him to say the word "Poop" - his first word. Now, the only word he'll say with any consistency whatsoever is "kitty". He also only waves or claps when it suits him. This week, he started dancing - to everything. He has just figured out how to get around the little gate that is supposed to protect him from the fireplace, so that's lovely. Today, he learned that it's fun to open all of the cabinets in the kitchen and pull things out. Each day is brand new, and this week, each day has started before 6am, heaven help me.

This pic was taken on January 25, when he had just learned to sit up on his little airplane but still could not reach the floor with his feet. Now he can push himself along...

Here is the monkey, back in February. Can't you tell he is up to no good? ;-)

Random mini videos

This is a shot of all the STUFF he has outgrown lately... It was divided up and has found a couple of good homes that can use it and pass it along again.

On Valentine's Day, we all spent the day at Legoland. (Very romantic, huh?!) I got one shot of John and the kids in front of the sign but otherwise, the teenagers went their own way that day - so John and I spent some time in the Legoland Aquarium with Kyan.

He liked the rays, and waved at the sharks...

In other super wonderful news... Jeff, Alex, Quinn, Merlin, Tasha, Boris, and Mowgli moved out here to San Diego on December 31 from North Carolina. That was huge for us, and while I haven't seen them as much as I'd like, they are here to stay and just closed escrow on a darling house in San Diego this past week. Check out Alex's blog, Five Black Cats, to follow them on their moving adventures. :-)

Quinny is absolutely DARLING and I am so glad to be closer to my nephew.

Alex and I took the minis, Matt, and Lindsday to the Zoo early in February... a few shots:

Alex and Quinn hanging out with the orangutans...

Kyan, flirting with Lindsay

While Quinny loved Lindsday, Kyan loved his puffs...

And in March, just before Quinny started daycare and Alex went back to work, she and I took the wee babes (that is 42 pounds she's got in her arms!) to the Wild Animal Park...

And while I don't have any pics to document this bit of info - Lindsay is having a baby BOY this summer!! He'll be a little native Hawaiian! Congratulations, Lindsday! xo
Thanks for getting through this entire post! I promise to do better again -- more soon!
